Benefits of Fixed Hybrid Dentures

Look and Feels Natural
Improved chewing
Easy maintenance
No restrictions on your diet
Improved appearance and self- confidence
Look and Feels Natural

Fixed hybrid dentures tend to feel more natural than traditional dentures because the dental implants used to anchor your dentures are positioned beneath your gums and fused to your jawbone, providing extremely stable support for your dentures.

Improved chewing

Because fixed hybrid dentures are placed on the implants, you are less likely to experience sore spots and irritation related to traditional dentures. We make the fixed hybrid dentures last so you don’t have to worry about damaging them while eating, allowing you to chew your food as you did with your real teeth.

Easy maintenance

Fixed hybrid dentures don’t require that much work. You can clean your implants the same way you used to clean your teeth: brushing twice a day.

No restrictions on your diet

While patients with conventional dentures must avoid certain foods, if you use fixed hybrid dentures you won’t have to replace any food on your diet, since the mechanics of your hybrid dentures feel like your teeth when you talk, chew, drink and eat.

Improved appearance and self- confidence

The system is designed to preserve the bone in your jaw, you don’t have to worry about losing bone density, which helps to preserve your facial structure and keep you looking good.

With your new smile, you will look better than ever, which should increase your self-confidence as well.

Fixed Hybrid Dentures Procedure

Aesthetically the Fixed Hybrid Denture can be made to look like a natural set of teeth and looks similar to other implant-supported dentures. The main difference between normal screw-retained dentures and Fixed Hybrid Dentures is that Fixed Hybrid Dentures have much more stability. We use high-impact acrylic that is mounted over the titanium bar to represent the gingiva and teeth (normally 10-12 teeth).

The patient will participate in various appointments as the restorative dentist and master technician take the correct dimensions of the patient’s facial features as well as the space needed to obtain a proper occlusion.

Additional Information
Your oral hygiene

Standards of good oral hygiene are critical for the success and functionality of dentures. The best way to prevent infection and ensure healing is to keep your mouth clean. Clean your mouth thoroughly after each meal beginning the day after surgery. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and toothpaste after meals and at bedtime. The use of a dental Waterpik is highly recommended to irrigate underneath the denture to flush out debris.

About bleeding

After a dental implant surgery is normally pink or blood-tinged saliva for two or three days and does not indicate any problem, even minimal bleeding is expected. In this case, the best way to stop it is by placing a damp piece of gauze and softly biting for 30 minutes while rest keeping your head elevated.

In case the bleeding continues, repeat the gauze step for an additional 30 minutes. The suture material may last from two to three weeks, and you should not pull or cut the sutures by yourself.

Swelling

After any surgery, swelling is a normal reaction of the body and the first step to healing. In the beginning, swelling will not become visible until 24 hours after your Post-surgery, and couldn’t reach its peak for two or three days. After this period, the swelling decreases but may persist from seven to 10 days. You can minimize swelling by applying immediate ice packs to the outside of the face for 20 minutes on, and then 20 minutes off while awake for the first 24 hours.

In case of pain

First, remember that a specialist must prescribe all medications and you should not exceed the recommended dosage. Because most oral surgery is followed by some amount of discomfort, the surgeon may suggest taking any anti-inflammatory, non-steroidal medication (only if you are not allergic to it), before the local anesthetic wears off.

In case of intense pain, you should require calm pain medication under prescription, which will cause you to feel drowsy, so you shall not operate any mechanical machinery or drive while taking the prescription. About the post-operative antibiotics, they must be taken as directed and the entire course of the prescription. For the first weeks after your dental implant surgery, you could also be prescribed an antibacterial mouth rinse which must be used two times a day.

Your diet

We suggest starting with liquids, after a general anesthetic or conscious IV sedation, and must avoid hot meals or hot liquids while numb. The limited food intake that is required for the first days could be compensated by increasing the fluid intake, with high protein shakes to replace meal supplements. For the first six weeks you must follow a soft chew diet, so if you cannot cut easily any food, please avoid eating it.

Activity
history 48 hours after your Fixed Hybrid Dentures surgery

Additional Information
When numbness is gone you can increase diet as tolerated by adding soft food
  • Try to keep your lips moist with special ointments (such as Vaseline) to avoid the corners of your mouth drying and cracking.
  • Sore throats and pain when swallowing are not uncommon. The muscles get swollen and the normal act of swallowing can become painful. This will subside in 2 to 3 days.
  • Stiffness of the jaw muscles may cause difficulty in opening your mouth for a few days. Do not force your mouth open. Massage the muscles and apply moist heat.
  • With upper jaw implant treatment, you may develop bleeding from the nose. This is usually a temporary finding and will not persist past 2 to 3 days. Avoid blowing your nose for several days.
  • An appointment with your general dentist may be needed within a few days of surgery to make any adjustments to your temporary denture.
  • Your case is individual as no two mouths are alike. Discuss all questions or concerns with your oral surgeon or implant coordinator.

What is a Fixed Hybrid Denture?

A Fixed Hybrid Denture is a prosthetic denture that we fixed to the mouth with titanium implants. It is an acrylic denture that contains a titanium bar that we screwed to the implants to secure the full arch in place, giving a natural look.

Is the titanium bar visible?

No, the titanium bar is not visible, because it is covered with acrylic of the color of your gums. The titanium bar is customized by our highly trained lab technicians, to match the color of your teeth and gums, as well as the shape of your arch for a natural look.

What materials are the Fixed Hybrid Dentures made of?

The Fixed Hybrids Dentures are made with special materials that do not place pressure on the titanium bar, such as natural-looking diamond acrylic for the teeth and acrylic resin for the base.

How do you make the Fixed Hybrid Dentures?

We make the Fixed Hybrid Dentures at our in-house lab where we milled the materials using CAD/CAM technology. It allows us to shape artificial teeth accurately and in a shorter time, so our restorative specialist only will need slight adjustments to make sure that your bite is 100% perfect before returning home.

Will I need to take my hybrid denture out at night?

No, you can not remove your hybrid denture because it is fixed to your mouth. Only a trained dentist can remove it to examine the area underneath the titanium bar and make sure it is clean. To keep the hygiene of your denture, brush it daily as you would your natural teeth.

How can I know if I am a good candidate for a Fixed Hybrid Denture?

To know if you are a good candidate for a Fixed Hybrid Denture, you first need an evaluation. This includes an examination of your smile line, tooth display, and occlusion with a 3D Cone Beam CT scan, as well as an assessment of your medical history.

What can I send you before my trip to Cancun to see if I am a candidate?

Ideally, you must send a 3D CBCT scan, it will be the best X-Ray to evaluate your jaw, sinus cavities, bone levels, density, and structure, and determine teeth orientation, and if it is the case, locate the origin of pathology or pain. Alternatively, we also will need a Panoramic X-RAY of your entire mouth, which will provide our specialist with a 2D image with a general outlook of the bone structure and nasal cavities.

How long should I stay in Cancun to complete my Fixed Hybrid Denture treatment?

We suggest a ten-day stay in Cancun to restore your implants with a Fixed Hybrid Denture, to ensure we have enough time for any fix as well as any adjustments on the denture, ensuring its perfect fit before returning home.

What is the guarantee on the Fixed Hybrid Denture?

Although fixed restorations are guaranteed for five years, a Fixed Hybrid Denture is made to last for life if you keep good oral hygiene and regular check-ups. For more detailed information, please enter the link below allon4cancun.com
