Teeth Whitening

A very effective way of lightening the natural color of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surfaces

Teeth Whitening is a safe procedure to be done while on vacation. Here at Cancun Dental Specialist, we use ZOOM whitening and Laser whitening, the procedure takes around 1 hour. We will go and pick you up from your hotel and bring you back, transportation is included in the cost. We recommend doing the procedure near the end of your vacation.

Virtually everyone who opts for a teeth whitening solution sees moderate to substantial improvement in the brightness and whiteness of their smile. It’s not a permanent solution to discoloration and requires maintenance for a prolonged effect.

Teeth Whitening Options

We offer you three different kinds of Teeth Whitening at our clinic:
LASER WHITENING

Laser Whitening

Are you considering teeth whitening to help reinvigorate a smile tainted by discoloration? Professional, in-office teeth whitening is the most popular cosmetic dental procedure in the world today. In-office whitening takes place under carefully monitored conditions which allow for the safe, controlled, pain-free use of a relatively high concentration of bleaching gel – yielding results that are visible immediately.

Laser teeth whitening

Advantages

  • Produces fastest results.
  • This is the safest form of bleaching.
  • Gum and tooth sensitivity (formerly drawbacks to in-office bleaching) are more controllable today due to thicker peroxide gels (that don’t soak into the teeth as much as previous gels) and the use of desensitizers such as potassium nitrate and fluoride.

Stains that are best removed by a Pro

Chairside whitening removes organic stains or discolorations primarily caused by:

  • Aging. Over time, the teeth darken with a yellow, brown, green or grey cast (which may be due to heredity and/or eating habits). Yellowed teeth tend to whiten most readily.
  • Consumption of certain foods (notably coffee, red wine, sodas and dark-colored vegetables and fruits).
  • Tobacco use.
ZOOM WHITENING

ZOOM Whitening

This kind of whitening is especially effective if you have deep discoloration, maybe from years of smoking, drinking wine and coffee, or taking certain types of medication. With Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed, your smile can whiten up to 8 shades in 45 minutes.

ZOOM whitening

Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed uses an innovative and exclusive LED light to help you safely reach a brighter, whiter smile in less time. After your initial oral exam, the complete treatment takes just one office visit. Your procedure begins with a short preparation period followed by three 15-minute whitening sessions, with an optional fourth 15-minute session offered at the discretion of your dental professional.

Your in-office procedure will begin with prep and the first of four Zoom WhiteSpeed in-office whitening gel applications. The WhiteSpeed lamp will accelerate whitening so that each of the four sessions last only 15 minutes.

HOME WHITENING

Home Whitening

If you’re looking for an alternative to professional bleaching in a dental office, then do-it-yourself at-home whitening might be right for you. Many teeth whiteners are pre-mixed and ready to use; others require mixing at home.

Their ongoing use, combined with the fact that small amounts of bleach remain within the tooth structure for up to 36 hours. When a new dose of bleach is applied to a tooth retaining the previous day’s peroxide, its effect is greater.

However, there are pitfalls to teeth whitening your teeth at home. For example, if you have an underlying condition like tooth decay or gum disease, you could end up enduring extreme pain depending on the concentration of peroxide used.

Home treatment teeth whitening

Advantages of At-Home treatment

  • Long-term results: Dental professionals agree that the only way to maintain your whitened teeth is with at-home bleaching products, repeated regularly – preferably every four to six months. But lately, many dentists are advising people with very dark-stained or tetracycline-affected teeth to continue home bleaching over a period of months (or up to a year) for optimal results. What’s interesting is, the newest strips on the consumer market are intended for five-minute use every day, like brushing or flossing.
  • Variety: You have a choice of whitening trays, strips or paint-on products, as well as numerous accessories.
  • Convenience: You can whiten at any time of the day or night, for short or extended periods.
  • Portability: You can also use strips while on the go or at the office.

Cost Comparison

Professional Whitening at Home

Prices can range from $200 to $400 USD* and depend on the brand your dentist offers as well as other factors. You can place the tray over your teeth once a day for a predetermined amount of time or overnight. Though these treatments are used at home, they are far more effective and safer than over-the-counter options. Choosing a premade whitening tray rather than a custom tray can make at-home whitening even more affordable.

In-Office Teeth Whitening

A professional teeth whitening treatment can cost between $300 and $1,000 USD*. The overall price of your treatment will depend on the brand of whitening gel used as well as any advanced tools incorporated into the treatment. For example, certain treatments, such as laser whitening, will cost significantly more than traditional methods.

Teeth Whitening Procedure

Teeth Whitening is a cosmetic procedure done to enhance the brightness of your smile. At our clinic, Teeth Whitening is a fairly simple and quick procedure, normally done after a dental cleaning.

Teeth Whitening normally lasts about 3-6 months when all the aftercare instructions are followed. The procedure is done by a general dentist applying a gel to the tooth, which is then activated with an ultraviolet laser making the teeth brighter in shade. This is a non-painful procedure, however, after the Whitening it is common to experience some sort of sensitivity.

What is a “White Diet” and Why Should I Follow It?

A White diet is to consume “white foods” or foods without color for a period of 24 to 48 hours. This has to be done because when you have your teeth whitening there is a layer of proteins that are found naturally on the surface of the tooth, making it vulnerable to being stained. These proteins take 24 to 48 hours to re-stabilize.

How long do the teeth whitening effects last?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. People who expose their teeth to foods and beverages that cause staining may see the whiteness start to fade in as little as one month. Those who avoid foods and beverages that stain may be able to wait one year or longer before another whitening treatment or touch-up is needed.

Do teeth whiteners damage tooth enamel?

The braces removal process is also pain-free. We use special tools to remove the brackets and wires and then we polish and clean your teeth so they sparkle. Enjoy your new beautiful smile !!!

Do teeth whiteners damage existing dental restorations?

Teeth whitening products containing 10% carbamide peroxide have not shown any damage to existing fillings. Existing restorations such as tooth-colored fillings, crowns, bonding, veneers, and bridges do not lighten. This means that any pre-existing dental work may need to be replaced to match the new tooth shade achieved in the natural teeth, should a bleaching process proceed.

Do teeth whiteners damage a tooth’s nerve?

There’s no evidence to date that the teeth whitening process has a harmful effect on the health of a tooth’s nerve.

How do I make an appointment?

To book an appointment all we would need is your travel information and we will organize the rest for you. Simply call our toll-free number 1 888 231 8041 to schedule an evaluation. Our Dental Coordinators will be more than happy to assist you.

Treatment Alternatives

composite resin veneers alternative

Composite Resin Veneers

Can be used to alter the color of a natural tooth, close small gaps and correct the appearance of crowded teeth without braces. They can be used to replace missing tooth structures and to cover defects or malformations. Composite Resin Veneers are less expensive than Porcelain Veneers and can be done in one visit to the Dentist. The downside of Composite Resin Veneers is that they are prone to staining and do not last as long as porcelain Veneers.
